Four outpatient care centers for cancer patients to be built in Dagestan

Makhachkala, July 30, 2019. The outpatient care centers for cancer patients at the local medical institutions will be created as part of the "Fighting cancer" target project in Dagestan. According to the Public Health Ministry of the region, in the period up to 2024 in Dagestan four such centers for the outpatient oncological care will be opened. The first center will appear in Kizlyar in September 2019.

The oncology center in Kizlyar will be created on the basis of the city hospital. At the present time the premises of day-care wards are being repaired. Next year, a similar center will be opened in Buinaksk. Two more centers will appear in Izberbash and Untsukulsky district of the republic.

Nowaays, the residents of the municipal districts of Dagestan have to travel to Makhachkala to receive chemotherapy or diagnosis. The opening of cancer centers will significantly improve the availability and quality of free medical services provided.

In Dagestan, in ten years, the incidence of tumors has increased by 16.8%, and the mortality rate - by 4.7%. As part of the federal project “Fighting Cancer” in Russia by 2024, at least 420 outpatient oncological care centers will be created and at least 160 clinics and hospitals in the regions will be re-equipped.
