Evgeniy Eriomin meets with Daghestan committee on freedom of conscience

Makhachkala, August 7, 2014. Head of the department of cooperation with religious organizations of the Russian president’s board Evgeniy Eriomin met with Daghestan committee on freedom of conscience and cooperation with religious organizations, a source in the committee told RIA "Daghestan".

The authorities met at the "Kizlyar Lagoon" recreation center which is now hosting the 1st international interreligious youth forum. Committee Chairman Suleiman Magomedov briefed on what the committee do and introduced the staff to Evgeniy Eriomin.

The department head thanked the Daghestan government for the excellent organization of the forum and the warm welcome. Speaking about his department, he pointed out its importance and significance in harmonizing inter-confessional relations in Daghestan and in Russia. "Russia’s leadership are satisfied with the department I chair. But our department only announces initiatives and makes proposals which should be implemented on spot. Thus, our leadership appreciate you as well," he added.

Eriomin also told about what the department do and shared their short-term plans, highlighting the event bringing together scholars and theologians of the three traditional religions scheduled for 2015 in Derbent as part of celebrating the 2,000th anniversary of the city.
