Makhachkala, September 9, 2014. Eleven pre-school educational institutions for 1,260 children will be built in Daghestan in a year’s time, a source in Daghestan ministry of education and science informs. To date, the republic has 729 pre-schools for 70,000 while there are 252,000 children aged 3-7.

In 2013-2014, 25 pre-schools for 4,025 were built in Daghestan. Around 3,000 more places were added through reconstructing and expanding the existing facilities, plus developing public-private partnerships. The total of 7, 054 exceeds the "road map" for implementing the Russian President’s decrees of May, 2014.
The monitoring done by Daghestan ministries of education and economy says that currently, average preschool enrollment amounts to 22.6% (17.2% in rural areas, 30% in cities). Further kindergarten construction projects  will take into account the monitoring data and the demand, said the source.

The ministry of education and science is sure they need to develop private sector to help solve the problem of low preschool enrollment. Today, 9 private kindergartens for 1,044 are operating in Daghestan. This number is the highest in the North Caucasus. 2 more private kindergartens are opening early September in the republic.
