Makhachkala, July 10, 2014. Today, a workshop on improving efficiency of Daghestan ministries and departments’ press services was held at the Gamzatov National Library in Makhachkala bringing together heads of ministries and departments’ press services and media men.

Opening the workshop, Head of the press service of Daghestan Head and government’s administration Tamara Chinennaya noted that it was a long-awaited meeting because many ministries and departments do not have properly performing sites. Speaking to the heads of ministries and departments, she stressed that the sites’ update depends on how the press services work, how they provide full information on time to avoid any speculation and rumors.

Comprehensive vision of the processes taking place in Daghestan is not a responsibility of a single department. The ministry of press and information provides accessible information platforms for the authorities to reach diverse target audiences. But the quality of the information about a particular department, the catchy media "image" is primarily determined by what information the press service of the department releases for media and how professionally the information content is compiled.

Maybe, due to the systematic activities of the ministry of press and information, positive changes have become obvious. In many ministries, press service’s work has been organized and it is improving day by day. Executive bodies’ official websites have greatly improved. The departments form press pools, journalists are constantly interacting," said Minister of press and information Aznaur Adzhiev.

He also outlined the problem of poor update in the official websites: "The information must be fresh and timely posted. A visitor should have no doubt the information is relevant and reliable."

Following the meeting, participants proposed some ideas of improving the executive bodies’ press services’ activities.
