DSTU representatives talk about their participation in Russian-Chinese Festival

Makhachkala, November 13, 2014. Representatives of Daghestan State Technical University told RIA "Dagestan" about their participation in the 11th Russian-Chinese festival taking place 10-19 October as part of the year of friendly youth exchanges between China and Russia.

DSTU Vice-rector on educational work Marina Kotenko commented: "The Technical University had qualified for the festival through a competitive selection made by Daghestan ministry of education and science. The university creative team "Peaks of Caucasus" was honored to represent Daghestan in the Russian-Chinese festival.

"We visited three major Chinese cities - Beijing, Tianjin and Changchun. In these cities, we met with the leadership of the country's leading universities – the Renmin University of China (Beijing), the Tianjin University of Science and Technology (Tianjin) and the Changchun Normal University (Changchun). During the meetings, we made some cultural exchanges, attended some discussion platforms and round tables for the students of our university and some Russian leading universities and the Chinese students. Then we visited the Changchun Normal University where we also exchanged our cultural programs, participated in numerous meetings with Chinese students, and shared our experiences of the education systems of Russia and China"- Kotenko said.

Head of the Public Relations Board Guri Emirova spoke about DSTU’s international activities: "DSTU is rapidly developing their relationships with leading foreign universities and research institutions. We cover both the Asia-Pacific region and European countries. The other day, our professor returned fr om Italy wh ere they had signed agreements with the University of Modena and the Tecnotest Company. We are also considering agreements with the universities of Bologna and Ancona.

"In other words, foreign scientific institutions and universities take much interest in our university, and DSTU intends to develop this cooperation expired by Russian President Vladimir Putin’s address to the public he made at the congress of the Russian Rectors’ Union when he appealed that universities become centers of regional development. International activity is one of the most evident indicators of a university’s development level and a region’s progress"- Emirova concluded.
