Sydney, November 18, 2014. Deputy Research Director of the "Daghestanskiy" Reserve Gadjibek Djamirzoev is representing Daghestan in the 6th IUCN World Parks Congress now underway in Sydney, Australia. The congress scheduled to run until November 19 is a global event, says a source in the reserve.

"The forum’s focus is "Parks, people, planet: inspiring solutions". A big delegation from Russia is at the congress this year. The delegation headed by Russian Natural Resources Minister Sergei Donskoi has about 40 officials representing reserves and national parks of Russia. This year's congress has attracted over 3,000 experts from 160 countries," the source commented.

Convened once in 10-11 years, the congress brings together leading scientists, governmental officials, largest international funds, businesses, and well-known world experts in sustainable development. They come here to make friends, share experiences and develop joint strategies for reserves and national parks all around the world.

The IUCN World Parks Congress is the largest and most authoritative international forum in the field of natural heritage. Its major organizer is the World Commission on Protected Areas of the International Union for Conservation of Nature.
