Dagestanis to take part in II Ethno-cultural festival in Leningrad region

Makhachkala, August 25, 2015. Dagestanis will take part in the II ethno-cultural festival entitled "Russia is the harmony of cultures". The event will take place in the city of Vyborg, Leningrad region on September 4-5, the head of the Permanent Representative of Dagestan in St. Petersburg Gasan Gasanov says.

The motto of the festival is "We are different - and that is our wealth, we are together - and this is our strength".

The materials of the exhibition will acquaint visitors with the unique culture and arts, the traditions and customs of the multiethnic republic of Dagestan.
Documents reveals the courage and bravery of soldiers from Dagestan, the defenders of Leningrad during the Great Patriotic War, the products of Kubachi, Untsukul, Balkhar and other Dagestani craftsmen, antiques, photographs, paintings of the Art Association "Open palm" headed by People's Artist of Dagestan Arsene Kardashov, will be introduced at the exhibition.

Dagestan ensemble of the national culture of the Caucasus "Druzhba" headed by the artistic director Ashrafudin Mekhdiev, has prepared several new performances. Besides, Mekhdiev will hold a master class for those who want to learn Dagestan national dance "Lezginka". The guests and visitors can also taste delicious Dagestan cuisine.

It should be noted that last year, the governor of Leningrad Alexander Drozdenko was pleased with a visit to Dagestan exhibition site and praised the first ethno-cultural festival in Tosno which brought together more than 15 thousand people - representatives of more than 140 nationalities.

He got familiarized with the exhibits, interesting customs and traditions of the peoples of Dagestan, and received Dagestan souvenirs. The event organizers hope that this year visitors and guests will highly appreciate Dagestan exhibition site.

The press service of the governor of the Leningrad region reported that almost 2.5 million rubles from the regional budget had been allocated to provide the II ethno-cultural festival. The event is initiated by the Committee on Local Government, interethnic and interfaith relations of the Leningrad region, STI  "House of Friendship of the Leningrad region”, the national-cultural associations of St. Petersburg and the region, the Committee on International Relations and implementation of migration policies in St. Petersburg, St. Petersburg STI " St. Petersburg House of Nationalities ".

The main purpose of the festival is to popularize the ethnic identity, to strength mutual understanding, respect and friendship between people of different nationalities and faiths.

As it is reported, the bands and folk artists from different regions of Russia, including the distinguished guests from the subjects of the North-West Federal District, the representatives of the administration of St. Petersburg and the Leningrad Region have been invited to participate in the festival.
