Dagestanis - Heroes of Russia to be immortalized in alley in Makhachkala

Makhachkala, February 22, 2017. The alley of the Heroes of Russia – the natives of Dagestan may appear on one of the avenues of Makhachkala. This initiative has been voiced by the Head of Dagestan Ramazan Abdulatipov at the session of the organizing committee "Pobeda".

"We must pay tribute to those who died defending our Motherland. We have an alley of Heroes of the Soviet Union in the Lenin Komsomol Park. But I have not seen the heroes of Russia there. Why not expand the alley by including the heroes of the post-soviet epoch, for there is no difference among them; they all are honorable men", - the head of the region is quoted saying.

Abdulatipov noted that the title of Hero of the Soviet Union was awarded to 62 Dagestanis, another seven Dagestanis became the Full Cavalier of the Order of Glory. Over 30 Dagestani received the title of the Hero of Russia.
