Dagestan remembers Rasul Gamzatov

Makhachkala, September 8, 2015. Today, September 8, Dagestan celebrates the 92-year anniversary of the national poet Rasul Gamzatov. These days, the administrative center of Dagestan, Makhachkala hosts Gamzatov’s Days - "White Cranes" held this year for the twelfth time.

Everyone can visit the tomb of the great poet at the foot of Tarki-Tau mount. Early in the morning processions of Dagestanis with flowers stretched long to the tomb of the poet, accompanied by relatives, friends and colleagues. Dagestani Prime minister Abdussamad Gamidov, the head of government administration Ramazan Aliyev and other representatives of the republic's leadership laid flowers too.  

The admirers of Rasul Gamzatov’s creativity also laid flowers to the monument near the Russian Drama Theatre in the center of Dagestani capital, located on the avenue named after the national poet of Dagestan.

Later in the afternoon, a special poetic evening on modern Russian poetry dedicated to the great poet took place in Makhachkala. The event was attended by the members of the republican parliament, Dagestan writers, poets and ordinary citizens.
