As part of the water supply systems modernization program in Dagestan, several municipalities are planning to install ultraviolet water purification systems. According to the Directorate of Infrastructure Programs, one such system will be installed in the city of Yuzhno-Sukhokumsk.

The second such system will be installed in Ahvakhsky municipal district. The installation of a unit for disinfection of drinking water is also under way there.

All these measures are being implemented under the "Clean Water" target program of the national "Housing and Urban Environment" project. In Yuzhno-Sukhokumsk, for example, about 10 thousand residents will get access to high-quality drinking water. Work is also underway on the construction of a reservoir with a capacity of 3 thousand cubic meters of water.
