Dagestan enters list of pilot regions for palliative care development

Makhachkala, April 1, 2019. The implementation of project of the All-Russian Popular Front for the Development of Palliative Care “Region of Care” has started in Russia. Thus, within the framework of the project, the RPF will develop regional palliative care development maps, taking into account the characteristics of the regions. The RPF staff will improve home care for patients and make this practice accessible to the families.

Anna Federmesser, the founder of the Vera hospice care charity foundation, said that the organization is ready to provide palliative care and drug supply in social security institutions and prisons.

“In the course of the work, it is necessary to create a standard of the regional program for the development of palliative care, as well as individual programs for each pilot region” - Federmesser said. Noteworthy, the list of 25 pilot regions includes Moscow, Ivanovo, Ryazan, Tula, Yaroslavl regions, the Republic of Dagestan and others. By results of the project, a special prize for the most active participants will be established. The Grand prize - the Region of Care award will be given to one of the pilot regions.
