The new technologists are increasingly being introduced into the work of Dagestan doctors. The cardiac surgeons for emergency medical care of the Republican Clinical Hospital were the first in the region to treat patients with cardiac arrhythmias, including atrial fibrillation, using 3-D navigation.

The hospital was provided with the Ensite Precision navigation system, which draws a volumetric model of the heart even before the operation. Besides, it allows to detect all vulnerable points. For the experts, it is a kind of navigational chart that they follow during the procedure.

Amazingly, the cardiologists can see even a microscopic area of damaged body tissue at a glance. Using only a catheter, through a small puncture in the leg, doctors "grope" the source of the arrhythmia and then cauterize it with radio frequency current.
“The radiofrequency ablation using this navigation device was performed for the first time in Dagestan. The device allows to visualize a 3D-image of the heart and now, with the help of the latest installation, we can treat the most complex forms of arrhythmias” – the main cardiac surgeon of the Hospital Mustafa Omarov said.
