Dagestan and Russian journalistic community to implement joint projects

Makhachkala, March 29, 2017. On March 27, in Moscow, the Head of the Republic of Dagestan Ramazan Abdulatipov met with the chairman of the Union of Journalists of Russia Vsevolod Bogdanov. The parties considered issued related to the implementation of joint projects associated with the journalistic community. The discussion was also attended by the chairman of the Union of Journalists of Dagestan Ali Kamalov.

The meeting participants noted that in 2017 it was planned to conduct an international expedition named "Journey to the Russky Island" to present the dynamic development of Russia and its southern province, Dagestan.

Among the main tasks of the international expedition was the popularization of unique monuments of history and culture of the peoples of Russia, one of which is the ancient city of Derbent.
During the expedition the visitors from Moscow, St. Petersburg, Saratov, Kazan, Nizhny Novgorod and other regions of the country expressed wish to arrive in the multinational Dagestan. The meeting attendees agreed on the main issues related to the organization of the upcoming event.

Ramazan Abdulatipov also touched upon the issue of construction monument to journalists killed in the line of duty near the House of Press in Makhachkala. The head of the Republic promised to assist in perpetuating the memory of the untimely departed wordsmiths.

For the time being, the sculptors from the Republic of Belarus have prepared the design and estimate documentation of the monument. The construction will be funded by private donations, including from the international charitable foundations. Recall, the first stone to the monument was laid in Makhachkala in July 2012.

The participants of the meeting were unanimous in the opinion that the great changes taking place in Dagestan should be fully reflected both in the central and republican media.
Ramazan Abdulatipov positively assessed the activities of the Union of Dagestani journalists to preserve peace and stability in the republic and the contribution of journalists to the solution of problems facing the Dagestani society.
