Makhachkala, August 7, 2014. The Interregional Scientific and Practical Conference on practical experience of information counteraction to extremism and terrorism in the Russian Federation has taken place in Makhachkala, in the conference hall of administrative building of Dagestan State University. The main objective of the conference was to integrate efforts of scientists, politicians, government officials, law enforcers in prevention of terrorism and extremism in the context of instructions given by Dagestani Head Ramazan Abdulatipov to improve the information security in the country.

The event was organized by the Ministry of Press and Information of the Republic of Dagestan along with the Institute of Humanitarian Technologies, Dagestan State University and the Center for Prevention of problems of extremism and terrorism. Experts from different regions of Russia arrived in Makhachkala to participate in the conference and share experience. Responding to the question why such a conference is held in Dagestan, the Minister of Press and Information RD Aznaur Adzhiev said that "… we live with these problems for years and we have something to share in terms of the fight against such phenomena."

The Security Council secretary RD Magomed Baachilov in his report said that the fight against the ideology of terrorism and extremism in the country requires combining efforts of all strata of the society.

Aznaur Adzhiev reminded a statement of Dagestani Head on the urgent need to strengthen ideological struggle, without which, according to the republican leader Ramazan Abdulatipov, it would be extremely difficult to achieve the final victory over this evil. "So we now come to hear each other, to develop new measures on information combat against extremism and terrorism in Dagestan" - the Minister said.

The conference participants also discussed such reports as "The causes and conditions of the spread of extremism and terrorism in the Northern Caucasus and in Dagestan in particular, the problem of ideological counter", "The prospects for the development of legislation and improve law enforcement activity in the sphere", "The presentation of methods of organizing work in the prevention of terrorism and extremism, the successful experience of practical work", "The information counteraction to extremism and terrorism - the role of the media, PR-services and modern information technologies".
