Makhachkala, May 18, 2015. The North Caucasus regional center of the Russian Emergencies Ministry are conducting command-and-staff drills on May 16-29 May for regulatory bodies and the bodies of the unified state system of prevention and liquidation of emergency situations to train elimination of natural and man-made disasters, a source in the center told RIA Dagestan.

The drills are held to increase the regulatory bodies’ readiness to respond to possible emergencies of different levels and nature. It involves the commission for prevention and elimination of emergency cases and fire safety of Russian regions’ executive authorities in the North Caucasus Federal District, as well as the Russian Emergencies Ministry’s forces, means and unified duty-dispatch services in relevant municipalities.

The drills script implies there has been a series of conventional earthquakes in NCFD regions. During the exercise, the participants will practise inter-agency cooperation, implementation of measures to eliminate potential natural and man-made disasters, enhancement of forces and means for rescue operations and other emergency operations for liquidation of natural and man-made emergency situations by the Russian Emergencies Ministry’s forces in the territory of all North Caucasus Federal District regions, including those with  the use of modern technical equipment and the latest rescue technology.
