Makhachkala, August 20, 2019. Dagestan authorities expect that the tourists’ inflow to the republic according to the results of the current year may increase by at least a third and exceed 850 thousand people. This is facilitated by the development of local travel agencies and operators, as well as the steady increase in regional security, Rasul Ibragimov, the Minister for Tourism and Folk Arts of Dagestan, told on Tuesday.

“Last year, according to official statistics, Dagestan was visited by 678 thousand tourists. The flow of tourists in the republic is growing annually, by the end of 2019 we expect that the tourists’ inflow will grow by at least a third” - Ibrahimov said.
According to the top official, 44 travel agencies and 6 tour operators are currently working in Dagestan, their number continues to grow. Famous bloggers and federal television channels come to the region to shoot stories, programs, videos, and thereby advertise the tourism potential of the region.

"We actively use campaigning and self-promotion, participate in various federal exhibitions, tourist forums, the large tour operators come to the region. Besides, Dagestan is getting better with security, and the residents themselves have become more active in terms of working with tourists who leave money with us. On average, one tourist in Makhachkala spends 2.5 thousand rubles a day" - Ibrahimov said.
