"Abandoned villages of Dagestan" documentary presented in Makhachkala

Makhachkala, February 15, 2017. The presentation of the documentary film "Abandoned villages of Dagestan" took place February 14 in Makhachkala, the press service of Dagestan State Pedagogical University reports. The film has been prepared by Dagestan Historical and Geographical Society and runs on the expedition DHGS to the abandoned villages of the republic.

The DHGS Head Zurab Gajiyev pointed out the importance of developing a roadmap for exploring the historical and geographical processes in Dagestan in different periods. Gajiyev shared plans about an intention to organize research expeditions to the abandoned settlements in virtually every municipality of the republic.

The Head of the Agency for the Protection of Cultural Heritage RD Zaur Kahrimanov, speaking to the participants of the meeting, promised to render all possible assistance in Society’s plans to identify new monuments of culture and to preserve some of the historical sights. The member of the Public Chamber RD Vagab Kazibekov, the managing staff of the University and students attended the official presentation ceremony.
