Makhachkala, July 31, 2020. The authorities of Dagestan, together with private sponsors repaired about 140 schools in the mountainous municipalities of the region in 2018 - 2019 as part of the republican project "100 schools". For these purposes, almost 380 million rubles were allocated, the Minister for Economy and Territorial Development of Dagestan Gadji Sultanov said.

According to Sultanov, this year under this project 136 schools of the republic were recognized as winners, of which 76 are located in 21 municipalities of the mountainous zone, which is more than 55% of the total number of winners of the "100 schools" project for the current year.

"For us, the development of mountainous territories is especially important because for a long time negative migration processes have been observed there. Within the last few years the situation has stabilized. We believe that the decisions taken, those projects and programs implemented including the project "100 schools", the programs "Zemsky Doctor", "Rural Teacher" and others, contributed to the consolidation of population in the mountains" – the minister said.

The project "100 schools" has been implemented since 2018, being initiated by the head of Dagestan, Vladimir Vasiliev who involveв the budgetary and extra-budgetary funds for the repair of educational institutions in the region. As result, the municipalities and private investors join the financing. In 2018, this project made it possible to carry out overhaul in 117 schools instead of the planned 100. Last year, instead of the planned 150 schools, 217 were repaired. Thus, in two years, 600 million rubles were allocated from the regional budget, 93,8 million rubles from the budgets of districts and cities and 213,5 million rubles of private funds for the repair of 334 schools.

According to the Ministry of Economic Development of Dagestan, mountainous territories occupy 44% of the republic's area. More than thousand settlements of 30 municipal districts of the region with a population of more than 900 thousand people are classified as such territories in Dagestan.
