Makhachkala, December 9, 2015. The Head of Ingushetia, Yunus-Bek Yevkurov has endorsed the draft law depriving people travelling abroad to participate in terrorist activities of their Russian citizenship submitted last week to the State Duma.

The initiative provides for the deprivation of citizenship of Russian persons travelling abroad to participate in terrorist organizations' activities, as well as persons "participating in international, inter-ethnic, inter-territorial or other armed conflict actions against Russian peacekeeping forces or the Russian Armed Forces and preventing the fulfillment of peacekeeping functions."

Yevkurov called this document actual. According to Head of the republic, such a measure would be "a major mechanism of action, and today it is essential to work out appropriate mechanism".

Yevkurov noted the need to "clearly" formulate the juridical terms related to the “terrorist organization”.

"If there is reason to deprive someone of citizenship, such as the active participation in the terrorist activity, this punishment should be good in law and legislatively correct".

Let us remind, on December 4 the deputies of the Legislative Assembly of Dagestan submitted a bill to the State Duma RF instituting a legislative practice to deprive terrorists and those involved in armed conflict against Russia of the Russian citizenship.

The document proposes to supplement the Article 21 of the Federal Law "On Citizenship of the Russian Federation" and the Article 21.1 "The deprivation of citizenship of the Russian Federation."
