Ramazan Abdulatipov to representative of the Islamic mass media: "You are not only journalists, but also enlighteners"

Makhachkala, March 4, 2015.  On March 3, Dagestan Head Ramazan Abdulatipov met with the representatives of the republican Islamic media. At the beginning of the session, Abdulatipov pointed out that Dagestani did much to recognize and reclaim their religious identity for the last 20 years. This process has been observed throughout Russia and became typical not only for Muslims but also for people of other faiths.

Dagestan Head noted that the last two decades were not the easiest for Dagestan and in these circumstances, ensuring a normal development of Islam was the most difficult task.

"We had a lot of enlighteners, including Sheikh Said Afandi and his companions, who gathered around him, particularly Mufti Saidmuhammad Hajji and others. We tried to reveal muslim religious relics for Dagestanis, hoping that this brought iman in the souls of men. But, unfortunately, it appears that internal culture and spirituality were not enough. I note, that Dagestanis became sager and showed tolerance to each other for recent year. This is what we lack. We often forget that the truth is at the bottom of patience and say the words that we must say the last".

In his speech to journalists, Dagestani Leader emphasized:

"Do not forget that you are not only journalists, but also a kind of enlighteners. And any journalist, working not necessarily in the religious sphere, is an educator and tutor. This is very important and it is a huge responsibility. It is necessary today to show the positive changes taking place in our republic. In this way we all work together for our Ummah."

At the conclusion, Ramadzan Abdulatipov thanked the Islamic mass media for their work and for the great contribution in strengthening Dagestan society and the entire Muslim Ummah.

"The journalists and authorities are another front for the restoration of peace, order and stability in our republic," - he stressed.

"We are ready for an open dialogue with religious mass media because communicating with them, we'll know what kind of problems our society has", - Ramazan Abdulatipov concluded.
