Makhachkala, August 27, 2014. Daghestani Head Ramazan Abdulatipov met with Russian minister of culture in Southern, North-Caucasus and Crimean federal districts Tatiana Seledtsova, the press service of Daghestani Head and government’s administration told RIA "Daghestan". The parties discussed building a sports complex in the Nizami Gyanzhevi Park in Derbent and preserving the monument of federal significance "North Wall" – a UNESCO World Cultural Heritage site.

Celebrating the 2,000th anniversary of Derbent is an indisputable evidence of recognizing the "Naryn-Kala" museum complex, an integral part of world civilization, as a cultural and historical heritage of Daghestani people and the architectural and aesthetic value of the unique national heritage of the whole Russia.

They have already approved the action plan and established an organizing committee and a working group for preparing for the celebrations. Also, they have signed an agreement with Azerbaijan on reconstructing the Heydar Aliyev Street and the Nizami Gyanzhevi Park, and building a sports complex there.

Participants also voiced some proposals like finding a new site for the Olympic sport complex and landscaping and greening the park without building capital facilities.

Concluding the meeting, Seledtsova confessed, "Now, I rely on your support because like any other UNESCO site, Derbent attracts much attention not only in Russia and Daghestan, but all around the globe."
