Makhachkala, February 11, 2015. On Wednesday, February 11, Dagestan Head Ramazan Abdulatipov held a meeting with Ildar Akhmerov, the commander of the Russia’s Caspian Flotilla, Captain 1st Rank.

Before discussing issues of cooperation, R. Abdulatipov stressed that the state army and the people should be united:

"In 1999, for the first time after the collapse of the Soviet Union, the unity is manifested in the fight against international terrorism in Dagestan under the command of the future President Vladimir Putin. We are very pleased that our republic hosts the Caspian Flotilla and its military units. It is necessary to ensure the sovereignty of the Russian Federation, for the tranquility of Dagestan. The army men have played a decisive role in stabilizing the situation in the Caucasus, especially in our republic. Here, the law enforcement agencies did much to ensure peace and order risking their own lives. "

Dagestan Leader noted that the signing of the Russian government resolution on advanced development of Dagestan proved once again that the country's leadership attaches great importance to Dagestan:

"Dagestan is a very important strategic region for Russia in terms of protecting its security and sovereignty. Therefore, we have to actively cooperate with the Armed Forces, and we are pleased to welcome you on arrival in Dagestan. I also hope that your stay in Dagestan will give you the most favorable impression".

In response, the commander of the Russia’s Caspian Flotilla thanked Ramazan Abdulatipov for the warm welcome and informed about the state of the material and technical equipment, combat support and human fleet capacity. According to Ildar Ahmerov, fleet headquarters is located in Astrakhan, but almost 50% of its personnel are concentrated in Dagestan. Besides, it was decided to establish a Marine Regiment in 2016.

"The flotilla has completed many tasks as in the Caspian Sea, in the SFD and North Caucasus Federal District, as well as in the Crimea", - the commander pointed out.

It should be noted that the Caspian Flotilla is operational units of the Russian Navy. Its structure includes missile patrol boats, small missile and artillery ships, missile and artillery boats, landing craft carriers of the Marine Corps, aviation, coastal defence troops, parts logistics, technical and special software. The Caspian Flotilla is the most powerful naval association in the region, designed to ensure the national interests of Russia and the tasks of counter-terrorism.
