Ramazan Abdulatipov meets with Alexander Khloponin

Makhachkala, July 2, 2015. Today, Dagestani Head Ramazan Abdulatipov met with the Russian Deputy Prime Minister Alexander Khloponin who arrived in Dagestan with a working visit. The parties discussed a number of issues relevant to the region, one of which related to the prospects of development of the sub-program "Socio-economic development of the Republic of Dagestan for 2015-2025 years".

Having resumed the results of the meeting, Ramazan Abdulatipov noted that Alexander Khloponin, together with the Minister of North Caucasus Affairs Lev Kuznetsov actively participated in the process of working out the sub-program.

"I think we shall adopt the program especially since the Prime Minister of Russia, Dmitry Medvedev has supported it. This is our common business. Secondly, during the discussion we agreed that Dagestan needs projects to change the cultural environment of the republic. In Dagestan it is necessary to demonstrate that it is possible to live and develop in different, progressive way"- Dagestani Head expressed confidence. According to him, a number of cultural institutions like the Friendship House, Theatre of poetry have been established to enrich the cultural space in the republic.

Additionally, Ramazan Abdulatipov pointed out the importance of implementation of economic projects on the territory of Dagestan.

"We have excellent opportunities for the development of the Caspian coastal cluster and topical issues related to the development and prospects of the Caspian Sea. The same concerns the mountainous areas such as Matlas, Akhty, Tlyarata and others. There are so many possibilities. Therefore, we need to have "locomotives" in Dagestan and across the Caucasus which may pull toward the other spheres", - R. Abdulatipov said.

The parties also appreciated the large-scale project "Port-Petrovsk" ("Caspiy City") that envisages the construction of a multifunctional complex. The project will presented to investors at the end of August 2015.

Touching upon the issue of celebration of the 2000 anniversary of the ancient city of Russia- Derbent, Dagestan Head noted that the opinion of the republican leadership and Alexander Khloponin is unanimous on this large-scale event:

  "We don’t want only to celebrate the anniversary but we want to mark a new era of Derbent, a new era for the development of Dagestan. I am convinced that Dagestanis are one of the most viable people and my goal is to prove to the world how civilized they are. When they say that Dagestanis or authorities became corrupted, I oppose saying that they are some individuals, but not all the Dagestanis. "

In conclusion, Ramazan Abdulatipov noted that the representatives of the federal government – the Prime Minister Dmitry Medvedev, the deputy Prime Minister Alexander Khloponin, the Minister of North Caucasus Affairs Lev Kuznetsov and the Russian Presidential Plenipotentiary Envoy in the North Caucasian Federal District  Sergey Melikov are interested in the development of region and appealed to all Dagestanis to support the positive changes taking place in the republic.
