Ramazan Abdulatipov inspects "Developing Makhachkala airport" project

Makhachkala, June 18, 2014. Daghestani Head Ramazan Abdulatipov held a working meeting on developing the Makhachkala airport with officials of "Nafta-Moscow" who had presented the "Developing Makhachkala airport" project, the press service of Daghestani Head and government administration told RIA "Daghestan".

Opening the meeting, Abdulatipov stressed that the situation with "Daghestan Airlines" is a long-simmering problem. He also noted that Daghestan leadership laid high hopes on "Nafta-Moscow" owned by Suleiman Kerimov in rehabilitation and modernization of Makhachkala airport.

1st deputy CEO of "Makhachkala Airport" JSC Stanislav Nevzorov reported that the project’s aim was to better the service rendered to Daghestan residents and visitors and develop Daghestan’s investment, socio-economic and cultural potential.

In 2013, the Makhachkala airport operated regular flights to Moscow, St. Petersburg, Ekaterinburg, Surgut, Mineralnye Vody, Sochi, Rostov-on-Don and international flights to Baku, Sharjah, Dubai (UAE), Istanbul, Sabiha (Turkey), and Aktau (Kazakhstan). After the reconstruction (they will expand the runway by 3 meters and strengthen its surface), almost all kinds of aircraft will be able to land in Daghestan capital. This will help increase the number of airlines flying through the Makhachkala airport and reduce ticket prices.

A "Nafta-Moscow" investment group representative also enlarged on the projects of building terminals for international and domestic lines, stressing that the airport will keep running while the terminal are being renovated and built; the third temporary terminal will be used for domestic flights. The new terminals will triple the capacity of the new terminal building and improve the quality of passenger service.

Ramazan Abdulatipov urged the investors to speed up the airport’s development, noting that Daghestan leadership, for its part, are ready to provide assistance both at the republican and federal levels.
