Ramazan Abdulatipov congratulates Dagestanis on 70th anniversary of Victory in Great Patriotic War

Makhachkala, May 9, 2015. The Head of the Republic of Dagestan Ramazan Abdulatipov has congratulated Dagestanis with the 70th anniversary of the Victory in the Great Patriotic War, the press service of administration of Dagestani Head and the republican government reports.

"I congratulate you on the 70th anniversary of Victory in the Great Patriotic War - a holiday that unites all of us with a sense of genuine pride in Motherland, in compatriots, in each soldier and home front worker, who fought in fierce battle against fascism and restored the country out of ruins. This is a great feat of great people of the great country.

The historic victory over Nazism became possible due to the efforts and heroism of all the peoples of our multinational country. Dagestanis were among the fraternal peoples who risen to defend the homeland. From the first days of the war, thousands of volunteers from Dagestan expressed their willingness to fight the treacherous enemy. There were more than 180 thousand of them. The sons and daughters of Dagestan bravely fought in the Great Patriotic War, in the regular divisions and as the partisans, displaying courage and heroism. Every second gave their lives for the independence of our country.

For an unprecedented feat 59 Dagestanis were awarded with the title of the Hero of the Soviet Union and Russia, seven of our compatriots became the full holders of the Order of Glory, tens of thousands were awarded with military orders and medals. Hundreds of thousands of Dagestanis selflessly worked in the factories, fields and farms, providing the front with arms, ammunition and food. More than 120 thousand workers in the rear were awarded with the high state awards.

The Great Patriotic War displayed and revealed the high patriotism, solidarity and unity of the peoples of our country that served as an unbending morale for the soldiers and home front workers in the struggle against Nazi Germany. Today it is important to remember that thanks to this morale, our country survived and won. Our sacred duty is to prevent the revision of history in such a difficult, not only for Russia but for the entire world community time. Soviet people not only protected the freedom and independence of our country, ensured its prosperity and power but also saved the mankind from the "brown plague".

We deeply honor the exploits of our fathers and grandfathers who displayed the indomitable will, courage and bravery. The lessons of the Great Patriotic War are timeless. The memory of the Great Victory will live forever and be passed from generation to generation. We are the heirs of the Great Victory.
