Makhachkala, December 4, 2015. On December 9 – 14, the republic of Dagestan will host the Political Science International Forum "Russian Caucasus", the press center of the forum reports. The event is expected to promote favorable conditions for the strengthening of national identity, interethnic and civil consent, the growth of national consciousness, to expand general understanding about the place and role of the Caucasus in historical, cultural, political and cultural space of the country and the unity of the Russian nation.

The well-known Russian political scientists, public figures, scientists, philosophers, historians, sociologists, economists, lawyers, culture, foreign visitors, psychologists and those who are interested in the problems of modern Russia have been invited in the round table discussion.

The importance of the North Caucasian civilization and cultural community in Russia is obvious. The Caucasus accumulated a powerful creative potential that can serve for a geographic platform uniting nations and civilizations in the 21st century. The unity of cultures and traditions has been formed in the Caucasus for centuries long. And, above all, it surely refers to the peoples of Dagestan.

"The Forum in Makhachkala is a kind of recognition of the role and place of the Republic in the stability and security forming processes, the development of the Russian Caucasus and the high score achievements in various sectors of Dagestan humanities. The fact that the Forum is devoted to the Russian Caucasus, speaks for the importance that the country's leadership attaches to the situation in the region, and the role played by the Russian Caucasus in stabilization and development of the country", - the organizers assure.

The International Political Science Forum "Russian Caucasus" is supported by the State Duma Committee on Nationalities, the Ministry of Regional Development of the Russian Federation, the Government of the Republic of Dagestan, the Ministry of National Policy of the Republic of Dagestan, the Institute of Sociology of the Russian Academy of Sciences, Dagestan Institute of Economics and Politics, the Dagestan branch of the Russian Association political science and others.

During the forum, the experts and participants will discuss the issue of identity, the severity of which is caused by the fact that in the society is spiritually split into different groups.  The deepening schism threatens civic identity. Regardless of the number of ethnic and nationality, everyone should see the outcomes of their participation in public life.
