Makhachkala, July 22, 2014. Daghestani Head Ramazan Abdulatipov decided to restore an independent structure supervising youth policy in the republic. At a meeting with youth organizations’ representatives he said, "The ministry should help Daghestani Head shape the youth policy, and assist the government in implementing it. It should also coordinate youth movements, youth initiatives, etc."

Ramazan Abdulatipov named the senior management of the ministry with a 3-month probation period. Deputy Minister of Education, Science and Youth Policy Zaur Kurbanov was appointed the new minister. Then, the Daghestan head spoke to the youth about the republic’s socio-economic development. He pointed out priority areas of youth policy – intensifying work with children and youth in municipalities, systematic vocational guidance of students of secondary schools (8-10 grades), establishing public youth councils at municipal heads, and involving youth in social activities.

Daghestan officials participating in the meeting proposed a few ideas of establishing: a youth movement to teach the younger generation the true values of Daghestan culture and help them develop a creative potential, a youth council at Daghestani Head, a youth foundation for financing municipalities’ projects on youth policy development, a foundation to support youth entrepreneurship allowing them to get interest-free loans for 3 years to develop their businesses, and a talent pool of young industrialists, farmers, and engineers, as well as appointing young officials – youth policy coordinators –Daghestani Head’s plenipotentiary representatives in 4 districts.

The Dagestan head supported the suggestions and gave instructions to the relevant officials to implement the proposed ideas. Concluding the meeting, he appealed to the young people, "Today, every young Daghestani should be competitive. You have to learn a lot, read a lot, and refine yourself."
