Khizri Shihsaidov calls Dagestanis to unite in fight against terrorism

Makhachkala, October 18, 2016. The Republican Parliament Speaker Khizri Shihsaidov has addressed, urging the residents of the republic to unite against terrorism, the information-analytical department of the Legislative Assembly RD informs.

"Today, countering extremism and terrorism is one of the key challenges as we have in the republic as well as in the other regions of Russia. In recent years, thanks to the decisions of the legislative and executive branches at the federal and regional level, the legal and organizational framework for combating terrorism has significantly increased. In particular, the Parliament of the Republic adopted the laws "On the prevention of extremist activity in the Republic of Dagestan", "On freedom of conscience, freedom of religion and religious organizations" and others. The Legislative Assembly holds regular "round tables", parliamentary hearings, visiting sessions on combating the ideology of extremism and terrorism, etc.

Besides, the members of the national parliament take part in meetings of the Antiterrorist Commission, the Commission at the Head of the Republic of Dagestan for reconciliation and harmony, as well as conduct outreach work with the young people in the cities and districts of the republic in order to prevent their departure to Syria and Iraq for involvement in illegal armed groups.
However, despite the success in the fight against specific manifestations of terrorism, we cannot be complacent, we need every day to advocate in society, especially among young people, in order to achieve zero tolerance of extremist ideology.

Currently, the republican authorities held a month-long action to combat extremism and terrorism "Dagestanis against terrorism - In favor of Homeland". Its main goal is to unite the efforts of different individuals within Dagestan society in the fight against this evil.

Noteworthy, the parliament of the republic will hold events to combat extremism and terrorism, in particular, the meetings of deputies with the high school students on the theme "Say No to extremism and terrorism." This meetings are important in order to explain the nature of terrorism, to form an active civil position among the younger generation.
