Indonesian Ambassador first time arrives in Dagestan

Makhachkala, March 25, 2019. On March 24, the representatives of the Indonesian Embassy in Russia and Belarus, headed by Ambassador Mohamad Vahid Supriyadi, arrived in Dagestan. The first deputy Prime Minister of the Republic Gadzhimagomed Guseynov, the minster for economic development Osman Khasbulatov, the regional representative of Russia’s Foreign Affairs Ministry Amirkhan MagomedadayevIn met the delegation in the airport.

On the same day, the foreign delegation accompanied by Dagestani vice premier Gadzhimagomed Guseynov, the Minister for National Policy and Religious Affairs of the Republic of Dagestan Enrik Muslimov and other officials visited the city of Derbent. They top officials attended the main sight of the city - the citadel "Naryn-Kala". The director of Derbent Museum-Reserve organized a tour across the citadel which is the UNESCO World Heritage Site for the delegation.

The guests were given an opportunity to mint a commemorative coin at the entrance to the fortress. They were also told about the history of architectural monuments of different epochs located on the territory of the citadel. The delegation members visited the Juma mosque and performed a day prayer (namaz). They also visited the cemetery Kyrhlyar (in translation - "forty") - the burial place of forty "martyrs for the faith." Kyrhlyar is believed as one of the oldest and most revered holy places of Muslims in the Northern Caucasus. In an interview with journalists, the Plenipotentiary and Extraordinary Ambassador of the Republic of Indonesia Mohamad Vahid Supriyadi said that the main purpose of his visit to Dagestan was to strengthen cooperation between Indonesia and Russia, in particular, between Indonesia and Dagestan in the areas of economy, trade and culture.

According to the Ambassador, he was impressed by the historical monuments located in Derbent.
