Makhachkala, January 13, 2015. Russian Presidential Envoy in the North Caucasian Federal District Sergey Melikov and heads of the NCFD regions arrived in Dagestan for a two-day visit.

Dagestani Head Ramazan Abdulatipov, Dagestan prime minister Abdussamad Gamidov, his deputies Ramazan Djafarov and Gassan Idrisov, and other officials met the delegation at the Makhachkala airport. Welcoming the guests on Dagestan soil, Ramazan Abdulatipov briefed on the Makhachkala airport that can accept nearly all types of aircraft after reconstruction.

Dagestani Head informed that the today’s airport runway is one of the best in the country, along with the one in Sochi. They had employed technology of laying asphalt concrete with polymer-bitumen additives that protect the runway against temperature fluctuations.

Then, the delegation headed for the House of Friendship in Makhachkala to start a meeting chaired by the presidential envoy. Tomorrow, the guests will visit Russia’s most ancient city Derbent to see facilities to be reconstructed and restored as part of preparations for celebrating the city’s 2,000th anniversary. They’ll visit the Naryn-Kala fortress, the old Juma mosque, and the recently opened World Religions and Cultures History Museum.
