Makhachkala, April 2, 2014. On April 17, a forum on "NGOs’ role in developing priority projects" will be held in Daghestan, said Adviser to Daghestan Head Denga Khalidov told a press conference held today at the "Daghestanskaya Pravda" newspaper’s office.

According to Khalidov, there’s currently much debate around 10 priority projects of Daghestan development. "These projects are being discussed; people complain that they are not being implemented. Someone just wants to see the full text of these documents, and so on.

The forum aims at uniting all NGOs and the whole community. Within this forum, NGOs will be able to offer their ideas and recommendations. This also implies supplementing and editing the projects. "Priority projects are no dogma, they can be supplemented," – Khalidov quoted Ramazan Abdulatipov.

Moreover, he emphasized that in Daghestan, they have handed out leaflets about the projects with the information on their ideas, plans, and objectives. "People want to know how these projects are related to their problems. The forum will give all the answers to all the questions,"- he said.

The rector of Daghestan Institute of National Economy Yahya Buchaev is sure that in implementing the projects, much attention is paid to public control. "Economists, scientists, NGOs, and other authorities are engaged in the public control. This is done in order to provide control over public funds. These projects address the legislation issues, infrastructure provision, and public control is necessary here," - the rector said.

Concluding the event, Denga Khalidov noted that the future forum is no ordinary event for a record. "After the forum, we’ll hold local meetings. By the way, March 31, NGOs already had a few meetings with the Chief of Daghestani Head and Government’s Administration Ramazan Aliyev. The public can and should affect the progress of these projects; in doing it, they may refer to the local government acts, the law on NGOs, etc." – he concluded.
