Federal experts recognize successful introduction of artificial intelligence in Dagestan

During the interregional video-conference with the regional executives responsible for the digital transformation, the deputy prime minister of the Russian Federation Dmitry Chernyshenko recognized successful implementation of projects based on artificial intelligence in Dagestan.

“The event was also attended by the head of the RF Ministry of Digital Development Maksut Shadayev. The participants of the event considered issue of personnel formation in the field of the digital economy. During the meeting, the acting minister of Digital Development of the Republic of Dagestan Sergey Snegirev reported on the work carried out in the region and spoke about a number of projects implemented in the region using AI technologies.

In particular, Snegirev reported on the projects implemented in the field of medicine, in the Republican Oncological Dispensary, the Perinatal Center "Mama Patimat" and in the Laki Central District Hospital, where the "CELS" system was introduced. This system makes it possible to detect malignant neoplasms at early stages, as a result of which the diagnostic efficiency increases by 3.8%. Besides, "CELS" is being tested to identify symptoms of COVID-19.

As to Snegirev, the region launched a voice assistant based on artificial intelligence "Madina" for the 112-phone service. The program can automatically call doctor at home using the number of the medical policy. The principles of self-learning AI were introduced into the development of the company "Megaputer" (with the support of the Ministry of Finance of the Republic of Dagestan) - a program for tracking sentiments in social networks, linked to geographic points. That in the future will allow adjusting management decisions in each specific region.

Speaking about the human resources potential of the digital economy in the republic, Sergey Snegirev noted that the Ministry and Dagestan State University opened a basic department “Digital Economy and Information and Communication Technologies”, two students of which presented their works at the competition “Clever 2020”. The University was included into the Alliance for the Development of Artificial Intelligence.
