Erdogan, injured, puts offenders to prison

Arrests in Turkey have become massive. Among detained persons, oddly to say, the most popular and "serious" crime is to insult the president Tayyip Erdogan. Totally, a number of evil doers has made already two hundred and fifty people, although during the reign of the previous four presidents a similar incident took place only once.

What does this mean? To tell the truth, Turkey has serious problems. The economic difficulties caused by Russian sanctions, terrorism and the civil war with the Kurds. Naturally, on the background of difficulties, the public discontent with the authorities’ inability is growing; however, any dissent harshly is repressed. Fearing arrest, the Turks are «forced to keep stum». What kind of meetings we can speak about if someone is imprisoned for funny caricatures with Erdogan on Facebook?! Moreover, it is not the first person who has been detained.

If I had been in Turks place, I should have been posted nothing on Facebook. On the other hand, what the people of Turkey should do? Do they have to wait when Erdogan finally will “draw up the nuts”? Nowdays, Erdogan controls the media, and orders the police to act more aggressively, pressures on members of parliament with a demand to change the constitution for himself. What about the fathers of American democracy? Silent. Apparently, they are quite satisfied by Tayyip Erdogan.
