On February 2, 2021, the delegation of Presidium of the International Public Chamber met with the Mufti of the Republic of Dagestan Sheikh Ahmad Afandi in Makhachkala. The members of the delegation conveyed congratulations on the 100th anniversary of foundation of Dagestan ASSR, celebrated in 2021, as well as the greetings on behalf of Chairman of the Spiritual Directorate of Muslims of the Russian Federation and the Council of Muftis of Russia, Mufti Sheikh Ravil Gainutdinto to the spiritual leader of the Muslims of Dagestan.

They also informed Sheikh Ahmad Afandi about the projects being implemented by the Chamber including those related to the cooperation with the public of Muslim countries. Particular attention during the meeting was paid to the need to unite efforts in defense for traditional values, spiritual and moral foundations of society.

The representatives of the Chamber appreciated the high role of Dagestani theologians in the development of international relations with the CIS countries. In this regard, they recalled events of December 2019, when the delegation of Chamber of the previous convocation became the first guests of the Minsk Cathedral Mosque. Then, the unique revered relics of the Prophet Muhammad, his family and closest associates had been delivered in Belarus for the first time in history. Among them there were the Prophet's hair, the Prophet's chalice, his daughter's jug, the keys to the Kaaba, a fragment of the Black Stone of the Kaaba and a number of other relics.

All of them were previously transferred for eternal storage to Dagestan Muftiate by the keeper of relics fr om the UAE, Sheikh Ahmad Al-Khazraji. The fraternal delegation of Dagestan Muslims delivered the part of these relics to Belarus, wh ere they was received by a member of the Chamber, Mufti of Belarus Abu-Bekir Shabanovich.

On behalf of the Russian and Belarusian colleagues, the delegation presented the Mufti Sheikh Ahmad Afandi in recognition of his high international merits with the medal “For public service to the Union State”.
As part of the delegation, the Mufti was visited by the Co-Chairman of the International Public Chamber - Chairman of the Expert Council, a member of the Union of Writers of Russia and the Union of Writers of the Union State Alexander Olshevsky, and a member of the Presidium of the Chamber, Chairman of the Council of the Uzdeni Dagestan Public Organization, head of the joint permanent humanitarian project Dagestan "Kerimkhan Umakhanov. The meeting was also attended by the Minister for National Policy and Religious Affairs of the Republic of Dagestan Enrik Muslimov.
