Makhachkala, February 13, 2014. On February 12, Daghestani Head Ramazan Abdulatipov and Russia Minister of Regional Development Igor Slyunyaev arrived at one of the oldest cities in the world - Derbent, where they saw some sewage treatment facilities under construction in company with Daghestani Prime Minister Abdussamad Gamidov, the deputy head of Daghestan Head of Government Administration Ismail Efendiyev, Daghestani minister of economy and regional development Rayudin Yusufov, and Derbent mayor Imam Yaraliev.

Currently, the city sewage treatment facilities purify over 25,000 cubic meters of water per day which is not enough because the volume of wastewater exceeds 80,000 cubic meters. The Derbent mayor said they need about RUR 1 billion to complete the construction of the sewage treatment facilities.

In turn, Igor Slyunyaev said he wanted to see the project estimates of the facility’s construction at a meeting to be held in Derbent later in the day and added that "the facility is being properly funded." "We will soon hold a separate meeting on the project in Moscow," - the minister concluded.

The guests got acquainted with the construction of the city’s sewage treatment facilities near the "Black Stones" cottage village and then they visited the oldest in Russia Derbent Juma Mosque and the "Naryn-Kala" citadel.
