Daghestan delegation to attend V-th Russian-Azerbaijani inter-regional economic forum in Gabala

Makhachkala, June 20, 2014. Daghestan delegation headed by Ramazan Abdulatipov will participate in the V-th Russian-Azerbaijani inter-regional economic forum entitled "Interregional cooperation: new opportunities for growth" in Gabala on June 23 - 24.

The forum is initiated by the Russian ministry of regional development and Azerbaijani ministry of economy and industry. About 400 members: representatives of public authorities and major companies in both countries, businessmen and public figures, representatives of Russia and Azerbaijan regions will take part in the forum.

On the first day the Forum participants will focus on cooperation in the energy sector, the development of interbank cooperation, inter-regional relations in the humanitarian, scientific, educational and cultural spheres, strengthening ties in the agricultural sector.

On the second day of the Forum, the participants of "round tables" will discuss industrial cooperation among entrepreneurs of two countries, the cooperation in the field of tourism, investment cooperation and cooperation in the development of public transport. It is reported that Daghestan ministers will deliver reports at the Forum.

Besides, a "contacts exchange board" between the business circles of both countries will function within the Forum. The parties are expected to sign a number of cooperation documents between Russia and Azerbaijan. The Forum will also provide an opportunity for informal communication between members and guests.


The Republic of Azerbaijan has traditionally been a major trading partner of the Republic of Daghestan, the volume of trade which annually amounts to not less than 30% of foreign trade of Daghestan. The relations between Daghestan and Azerbaijan are characterized by stable positive dynamics and tend to further strengthening of strategic partnership.
