Dagestani Head meets with religious leaders of the Northern Caucasus

Makhachkala, December 2, 2014. On Monday, December 1, Dagestani Head Ramazan Abdulatipov chaired a meeting entitled “The role of Islamic organizations in maintaining peace and stability". The conference brought together religious leaders of the Northern Caucasus, the press service of Daghestani Head and government’s administration reports.

Having expressed sincere gratitude to the guests for participating in the Congress, Ramazan Abdulatipov pointed out that cooperation and the strengthening of constructive relations among the Muslims from different Russian regions would provide inter-civilization conversation in order to reduce radicalism among the young people.

"The current religious situation is characterized by a lot of problems and issues. We should not ignore them but try to solve in a short period not to have bigger problems tomorrow.  About 2.5 million Muslims live in Dagestan and we should not divide them in different trends"- Dagestani Head said.

R. Abdulatipov urged the participants of the Congress of religious leaders to support the position of the President RF, recalling that the political course of the country's leadership is to promote cohesion and mutual understanding of the peoples of all faiths.

Dagestani Head also noted that the religious leaders of the Northern Caucasus and other Russian regions carried out a serious work aimed at improving the spiritual self-perfecting of society, forming the young people’s high moral and ethical principles. The religious leaders firmly and consistently condemned extremism and terrorism in all forms and manifestations defending the position of security, peace, kindness and creativity.

As to Dagestani Leader, the problem of violence, ignorance and extremism can not be solved through the use of force, but through dialogues between the different currents within the Islamic Ummah.

The chairpersons of Spiritual administrations of Muslims of the Northern Caucasus expressed their gratitude for a warm welcome and the opportunity to participate in the Congress. As all participants pointed out Islam in Russia came via Dagestan, which had always been famous for its scholars, and today here as it was demonstrated once again, the religious leaders of the North Caucasus look forward to further peace strengthening process, the unity and spiritual ties among peoples. This is a way of truth, which must be followed by youth.

“The Congress of religious leaders of the North Caucasus is intended to assist in solving key tasks, to contribute to the process of strengthening of good neighborly relations among the Russian regions. I wish all participants of the meeting good health, well-being and the best on the path of God.” Ramazan Abdulatipov concluded.

The meeting was attended by Dagestan Deputy Prime Minister Ramazan Dzhafarov, the chairman of the Committee for Freedom of Conscience, Cooperation with Religious Organizations RD Suleyman Magomedov, the chairman of the Spiritual Board of Muslims of Dagestan, mufti, Sheikh Ahmad- haji Abdulayev, the imam of the central Juma mosque of Makhachkala Mahammadrasul Saaduev, the chairmen of Spiritual Administration of Muslims of Karachay-Cherkessia, North Ossetia-Alania, Kabardino-Balkaria Republic, the Chechen Republic, Stavropol Territory, muftis Ismail Berdiev, Hadzhimurad Gatsalov, Hazratali Haji Dzasezhev, Salah Haji Mezhiev, Muhammad- Haji Rakhimov, and the chairmen of Spiritual Administration of Muslims of Kalmykia and Tatarstan muftis Sultan- Ahmed Karalayev, Kamile Samigulin, the chief Imam of Simferopol Muhammed Islamov, the director of autonomous non-profit organization "Scientific-Educational Center" Al-Wasat-moderation "Ali (Vyacheslav) Polosin.
