The organization of the municipal solid waste management system in Dagestan was discussed at the regular session of Government of the Republic of Dagestan chaired by regional governor Sergei Melikov.

The top officials and the employees of the Russian Ecological Operator considered topical issues related to the transition to a new solid wastes management system and the possibility of implementing measures provided for by the updated Territorial Scheme.

As to Melikov, the regional authorities pay close attention to development of the territorial waste management scheme, as well as to the work underway to solve the problems of unauthorized dumps.

The republic is implementing the federal project "Clean Country" within the national target program "Ecology". Sergei Melikov underlined the need to call on the residents of the republic to observe order and to get involved in subbotniks to achieve cleanliness in the settlements.
