Makhachkala, February 6, 2015. On February 4, on the Memorial Day of Shamil, "Shamil. Final Way." documentary was presented at the Gamzatov National Library in Dagestan’s capital. This is a story about the life of the great Imam of Dagestan and Chechnya from after he left Russia until his death in Medina. It took about a year to shoot the film.

For 30 minutes, the film tells about the time when Shamil did Hajj in 1869. For some time, the Imam lived in Istanbul, and then in Egypt. "He found himself in Mecca and performed all the necessary rites, but the age, old wounds, and the weather took their toll on him - Shamil felt very weak. He wanted to stay in Medina and be buried next to the Prophet Muhammad, and so he was. The film tells the story of his journey, his diplomatic affairs, and his life complexities,"- said script writer playwright Shapi Kaziev.

The film shows Shamil’s Holy Quran that now is owned and cherished by a UK national, as well as Shamil’s banner, and the real picture of the emperor palace on the Suez Canal, which is a serious historical discovery.

A member of the Guild of Documentary Films and Television, a member of the Russian Union of Cinematographers, head of the Panorama film club Abdul Bechedov says the film is a worthy contribution to the culture of Dagestan.

The film participated in some international film festivals, the latest one being the 17th International Short Film Festival in Serbia. The film was played in Serbian, too. On the same day, February 4, RGVK Dagestan TV aired the premiere in Dagestan.
