Retrospective exhibition dedicated to Bella Muradova’s 75-year jubilee opens in Makhachkala

Makhachkala, February 26, 2016. The retrospective exhibition dedicated to the 75th anniversary of the famous Dagestani artist Bella Muradova has opened today February 26 in Makhachkala. The official opening ceremony took place in the Republican Museum of Fine Arts named after R. Gamzatov.The exhibition consists of sculptures, painting from the artist's and private collections.

Bella Muradova is Dagestan first woman-sculptor who received professional education. In 1962 she successfully graduated Azerbaijan Art School in Baku. At the beginning of her career, Muradova proved herself as a self-rigorous person who was looking for new ways to work. The clay, being her favorite material for many years, allowed her to experiment, to seek and to turn the themes and characters that excited her into the sculptural forms. At the same time, Bella Muradova was not afraid to try other materials.

In one of her interviews, Muradova said: "I want to create a perfect unity: the peace, the beauty and the clarity". Through her works, she projected the idea, transforming the environment and the viewer, bringing the peace, beauty and clarity in our life – the opening ceremony attendees said.
