Makhachkala, June 27, 2014. Today, on July 27 "My Daghestan. Confession" full length documentary drama will be shown at the "October" cinema within the 36th Moscow International Film Festival. It’s a film about the life of great modern poet Rasul Gamzatov shot by Murad Ibragimbekov basing on the story scripted by a famous playwright, producer Rustam Ibragimbekov in collaboration with Daghestan Head Ramazan Abdulatipov.

In 2013, the film-makers started shooting the drama based on Rasul Gamzatov’s popular book "My Daghestan" on the background of the poet’s native Tsada village, Hunzakh region, as well as in Makhachkala and Derbent. The film cast is Daghestan actors Gadji Ibragimov, Gusseyin Kaziev, Hadizhat Djamaludinova, Abdulhalik Abdulhalikov, and others; People's Artist of the USSR Vassily Lanovoi is the narrator.

The film tells a story about Gamzatov’s childhood and youth, his way to his self as a person and a great modern poet whose 90th anniversary was widely celebrated in Daghestan and throughout Russia last year. The authors paid great attention to the beauty and greatness of the mountains, to the culture and centuries-old traditions of Daghestan and the people’s spiritual wealth. A special place in the story was given to Gamzatov’s relationship with his father Gamzat Tsadassa.

To complete the portrait of an outstanding artist and person, the authors added some interviews with famous poets, actors, and politicians such as Yevgeny Yevtushenko, Vakhtang Kikabidze, Yevgeny Primakov, and the poet’s daughters.

The 36th Moscow International Film Festival is scheduled to run June 19-28 at 5 venues: "October" and "Illusion" cinemas, the House of Cinema, the Screen Actor Theater, and Gorky Park.
