Derbent, December 11, 2014. On December 20, they’ll open the Museum of World Culture and Religion History in Dagestan, a source in the ministry of culture told RIA "Dagestan".

Established on behalf of Dagestani Head Ramazan Abdulatipov, the museum is located in Derbent. On Monday, Dagestan minister of culture Zarema Butaeva and her deputy Elena Garunova inspected how on the three floors the museum was being prepared for the opening.

On the first floor, they saw the "There was a city" exposition presenting a lot of Derbent residents’ old photos, stories they told, and household items they used in the past century. Here, the staff will hold tours and master classes for visitors. A special program has been designed for children to paint, sculpt from clay and do other crafts. There will also be a small public library for the visitors to read all sorts of interesting books in a comfortable environment.

On the second floor, there are unique exhibits representing 4 religions: Buddhism, Christianity, Islam and Judaism. Museum director Diana Gassanova says all the exhibits have been donated to the museum by people of the faiths. "They are all authentic exhibits, we’ve been collecting then for a long time. We can be proud that no souvenirs are among them," she said. On the third floor there’s a working area and a conference room.

In Derbent, minister Zarema Butaeva also visited the Derbent Music School and the Dagestan State Dance Ensemble "Kaspiy" and promised them to render all possible material assistance for renovation and other works.
