Makhachkala, December 17, 2017. Dagestan, one of the five Russia’s provinces in the Caucasus, being the leader in the number of cultural heritage sites, loses its relics due to inadequate maintenance.
Formed a year ago, the republican Agency for the Protection of Cultural Venues in Dagestan carried out work on determination of the current state of historical and cultural relics in the republic. As to the Agency officers, more than 70% of venues and facilities located on the territory of the Republic of Dagestan are in dilapidated condition and require restoration work. In total, the region has about 6.5 thousand buildings, venues and facilities of cultural value.

All the objects have been included into the automatic registration system. This was voiced by the Agency head Zaur Kahrimanov at the "Open Power" project held December 14 in Makhachkala.
