Makhachkala, June 20, 2014. ‘What would Van Gogh paint Makhachkala like if he visited the city?’ creative artist nicknamed BRO asked himself working on the project named «BRO. MAKHACHKALA. VAN GOGH» which was opened at the Makhachkala History Museum, on June 19.

According to the exhibition curator, Museum Director Zarema Dadaeva, BRO has been taking photos of the city, its places, streets, houses, people, and the sea for a few years.

"In “BRO. MAKHACHKALA.VAN GOGH”, the photo plain-airs serve as the basis for creating a reality with digital art. Here, digital art is not just a computer simulation of traditional artistic instruments, it also allows you to create new types of art pieces to which computer environment is a place to live. Like an alchemist, the author transforms the screened world making it a painting, although an intangible one.

BRO said about the project that, "The exhibition’s feature is the fact of a direct visualization of a city life where the author’s associations are made in postimpressionist Vincent Van Gogh’s brushwork, who said that reality was a true foundation of genuine poetry; an artist does not copy the reality he sees, but reflects it through his senses. His aim is to reflect not a hand, but a gesture, not a correctly built house, but an overall exposure of the movement."
