Makhachkala, February 25, 2015. The International Mother Language Day was celebrated February 22-23 in the Tsadasa Avar Music and Drama Theatre, a source in the theater informed RIA Dagestan.

"The celebration primarily aims at promoting and preserving the native languages. It is a relevant issue today. Our common goal is to preserve the historical roots of the language culture and keep them for the younger generation," - the source noted.

It was a very bright and colourful festivity thanks to the coordinated work done by book publishers and intelligentsia. The event brought together cultural, religious and public leaders, and representatives of Dagestan Writers' Union and Dagestan Scientific Center of the Russian Academy of Sciences.
The foyer of the theater was home to an exhibition where visitors could buy books in their native languages and Dagestani craftsmen’s products. There was also a photo exhibition on the theater’s history and presentation of the video archive with fragments of the theater’s tours.

On the final day, the guests saw a concert starring Avar theater’s singers and the finalists of the German’s Das Supertalent, the nominee of the Russian Guinness Book, currently a soloist of the France's biggest circus Emin. The festivity ended with Yuzeev’s "Nightingale Song" performance.
