Moscow, November 9, 2018. The library named after E. A. Furtsev in Moscow hosts a retrospective exhibition of Dagestani artist, the Honored Art Worker of Dagestan Gadji Magomedov (1932 - 2016) “The Mirror of the Epoch”. The exhibition presents graphic and pictorial works, created by the artist from 1962 to 1993. Magomedov’s painting works are mainly portraits of fellow villagers, the scenes from Avar folklore and the landscapes of mountainous Dagestan.

The exhibition also contains photographs of some of the author’s sculptures devoted to the events of World War II and the photographs from the personal archive of the artist’s family. “Wide recognition came to Gadji Magomedov in the last years of his life. Before that, he painted in his workshop for himself and was against solo exhibitions - he was shy about that. His children, on the contrary, always wanted his father’s work to be seen. The exhibition galleries also showed interest. Two years after the artist’s death, the exhibition opens in Moscow. One more event is planned in the near future in Makhachkala” - one of the exhibition organizers photographer Tair Guliyev told. The exhibition “The Mirror of the Epoch” will run till December 8.
