First international festival-competition "Lezginka on the Neva River" kicks off in St. Petersburg

Makhachkala, November 25, 2015. The first international festival-competition "Lezginka on the Neva River" has kicked off tonight at the concert hall of the hotel "Saint Petersburg" in the northern capital. The event has been organized by the NGO "The Cultural Center of Peoples of the Caucasus" with assistance of Dagestan permanent representation in St. Petersburg.

"Our goal is to promote children’s and teenagers’ creativity, to demonstrate the achievements of art collectives, to strengthen cultural relations, to implement the exchange of experiences among the creative bands, managers and teachers and to promote their professional development.

Furthermore, we pursue the idea to reveal and to render comprehensive assistance to the most talented and promising children and groups, to cultivate the aesthetic taste among the performers and the audience, to create conditions for realization of creative potential of children and adolescents in an intercultural space"- one of organizers of the festival-contest, the artistic director of the ensemble "Imamate" Nurmagomed Gajiyev said.

According to Gajiyev, the two-day event will bring together dance groups and individual performers in the six age groups from different regions of Russia, CIS and far abroad. The competent jury will determine the best performances and artists in six categories. Besides, it is planned to hold workshops and roundtables.
