Festival of national cultures of Dagestan peoples and town houses kicks off in Derbent

Makhachkala, September 19, 2015. The festival of national cultures of Dagestan peoples and town houses fr om different Russian regions "Tradition" has kicked off today in the central square of Derbent.

The state, amateur and creative teams and performers of folk songs and music, ashugs, pandur players, students of art schools, young artists, craftsmen from Dagestan districts and the Russian regions – Moscow, St. Petersburg, the Crimea, Tatarstan, Kalmykia, Bashkortostan and other republics of the North Caucasusfestive attended the event.

The basic idea is to represent the ancient fortress of Derbent as a single multiethnic family of peoples of Russia, as an example of tolerance and civilized coexistence of different religions, different cultures and traditions.

Totally, Dagestan town houses are represented by 13 expositions, wh ere the ethnic culture, products of Dagestan craftsmen are exhibited. The crafstmen of national costumes demonstrate the process of creating clothes, conduct master classes with the participation of all interested in the creative process.

The folk groups of Dagestan cities and districts perform folk songs and dances to the accompaniment of traditional musical instruments, involving the audience. Derbent residents offer the guests to taste different national dishes.
