Exhibition commemorating Alexei Avgustovich’s 100th anniversary held in Makhachkala

Makhachkala, July 3, 2014. In the Gamzatova Daghestan Museum of Fine Arts, they are holding an exhibition to commemorate Honoured Artist of Daghesten Alexei Avgustovich’s 100^th anniversary, a source in the museum informed RIA "Daghestan".

The event has been projected by Gamzatova Daghestan Museum of Fine Arts in partnership with the Museum of Makhachkala History. The exhibit features over 150 paintings by Avgustovich, plus some documentary videos about the artist.

"Alexei Avgustovich is a bright star of Daghestan fine art, an artist, whose creativity and mere presence in the Dagestan history and culture gave momentum to and keep on educating Daghestani from generation to generation. Significance of his work is not only due to his professional technical skills, but most importantly to his storyline, a "tasty" representation of simple but very warm scenery (still lives, landscapes, genre scenes)," said the source.

The exhibition is going to be officially opened on July 3 to run until August 20.
