Days of Dagestan Culture to be held in Paris

Makhachkala, January 30, 2015. The Days of Dagestan Culture will take place in France on 31 August to 4 September, the press – service of Dagestan ministry of culture reports.

A series of events is initiated by the Government of the Russian Federation and the Republic of Dagestan, the regional and federal ministries of culture along with Dagestani Head and the Permanent Mission of the Russian Federation at UNESCO in Paris.

Dagestan culture exposition is expected to become a key event. As to the spokesman, Parisians will see traditional arts and crafts of Dagestan such as carved wood sculptures, Untsukul woodworks, carved stone pieces, carpets, embroidery, ceramics, copper-engraved products, traditional costumes of the peoples of Dagestan, jewelry and works of art, as well as a concert of Dagestan pop artists and creative groups.

This large-scale event will help to revive interest to the history of Dagestan and Russia, to integrate the culture of Dagestan into the international cultural space and to develop international cultural exchange.

Dagestan ministry of culture has already begun active preparation for this important trip for the whole republic. On January 29, Dagestan minister of culture Zarema Butaeva chaired the first meeting of the working group. The participants of the organizing committee voiced a number of interesting proposals, the best of which will be submitted to Dagestani Head Ramazan Abdulatipov.
